Privacy Policy

1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how SCRLODX ("we", "us", "our") handles personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles ("APPs"). It applies to the SCRLODX platform at scrlodx.com and related services (the "Platform").
2. The personal information we collect
Depending on how you use the Platform, we may collect:
- Account information — your name, email address, and login credentials.
- Business information — business name, contact details, category, address and related listing details.
- Content — photos, videos and captions you upload, which may include metadata such as device or location information embedded by your device.
- Location information — approximate location (for example, to show nearby businesses and to target advertising), where you allow it.
- Payment information — handled by our payment processor, Stripe. We do not store full card numbers; we receive limited transaction details.
- Usage and device information — interactions with the Platform, analytics, and technical data such as browser and device type.
3. How we collect it
We collect personal information directly from you (when you sign up, create or claim a listing, upload content, advertise, or contact us), automatically as you use the Platform, and sometimes from third parties such as authentication and mapping providers and publicly available business directories.
Where we collect personal information about you from a third party or a public source — for example, when a business listing is created from publicly available information — we take reasonable steps to make you aware of the collection, such as when the listing is first published or contacted. If you do not want a listing about you or your business to appear, you can ask us to remove it (see clause 14) and we will action reasonable requests.
4. Why we use it
We use personal information to provide and improve the Platform, create and display listings and content, process payments and subscriptions, deliver and measure advertising, provide support, maintain security and prevent misuse, comply with our legal obligations, and (where permitted) send you service and marketing communications.
5. Automated processing
We use automated tools, including search-ranking and advertising-delivery technology, to organise listings and content and to decide which content and advertisements to show. These tools support how the Platform is presented; they are not used to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you. If we begin using automated decision-making of a kind that significantly affects individuals' rights or interests, we will update this policy to describe it before the relevant transparency obligations under the Privacy Act take effect.
6. Disclosure
We may disclose personal information to service providers who help us run the Platform, including payment processing (Stripe), database and file storage and hosting providers, content delivery, mapping and authentication providers, and email delivery providers. We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
7. Overseas disclosure
Some of our service providers are located, or store data, outside Australia (including in the United States). Where we disclose personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is handled consistently with the APPs.
8. Data breaches
We maintain reasonable procedures to detect, assess and respond to data breaches. If a data breach involving your personal information is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme under the Privacy Act.
9. Marketing and the Spam Act
If we send marketing communications, we will do so consistently with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). Every marketing message will include a way to unsubscribe, and you can opt out at any time by contacting hello@scrlodx.com.
10. Children
The Platform is intended for adults and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a person under 16. If you believe we have collected information from a person under 16, please contact us at hello@scrlodx.com and we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
11. Cookies and analytics
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Platform, remember preferences, and understand usage. You can manage cookies through your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.
12. Security
We take reasonable steps, including appropriate technical and organisational measures, to protect personal information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
13. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements, after which we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
14. Access, correction and removal
You may request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you by contacting hello@scrlodx.com. You may also ask us to remove a listing about you or your business that was created from public sources. We will respond within a reasonable period and consistently with the APPs. There are some circumstances in which we may decline a request, in which case we will explain why.
15. Complaints
If you have a privacy concern, please contact us first at hello@scrlodx.com so we can try to resolve it. If you are not satisfied, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version will always be available on the Platform with its "last updated" date.
